Now more than ever, girls need what Girl Scouts has to offer. Research shows girl-only spaces like Girl Scouts give girls a safe place to share their opinions and ideas with other girls and caring adults and to try new things without fear of failure.

Steady leadership is essential during a crisis such as COVID-19, from fostering trust and showing compassion, to managing challenges with agility, to evaluating outcomes of decisions. The Girl Scout program is proven to develop these types of skills helping girls become strong and effective leaders. Among many positive outcomes, Girl Scouts are much more likely than non-Girl Scouts to take an active role in decision making (80% vs. 51%), which is a critical aspect of leadership.

Girl Scouts has debuted new badges this summer designed to help girls practice ambitious leadership in crucial areas like engineering, STEM career exploration, entrepreneurship, and civics. The new badges are a testament to Girl Scouts’ commitment to providing girls with experiences that are relevant to our world’s needs and market demands and continuing to build the transformational female leaders of today and the future, while showing girls the power they have to truly change the world.

Girls right here in south Florida are changing the world through troop and individual take-action projects. From beach clean-ups and tranquility gardens on school campuses, to creating music education programs where they had been silenced in local schools and restoring our coral reefs; Girl Scouts are making a difference in their local communities every day.

“Girl Scouts has influenced my life in so many difference ways,” says Addison W. from Troop 20570. “They’ve taught me skills that I’ll be able to use for the rest of my life, provided me with lifelong friends and taught me why it’s so important to be part of and help my community.”

Girl Scouts of Southeast Florida offers exciting skill-building, life-changing, leader-inspiring activities for girls in kindergarten through 12th grade. Our virtual and in-person, safe and socially distanced program offerings give girls and families opportunities to stay connected, interact with their peers and friends, and have remarkable experiences that keep her engaged and inspired during these challenging times. This fall, our program calendar is filled with amazing topics like STEM, career exploration, business ethics, healthy living and eating, outdoor adventures like snorkeling, robotics and even the pure fun of a magic program and a virtual princess play date. No matter what a girl is interested in, GSSEF has something that will excite and inspire them.
