The Palm Beach County Library System has curated more than 1,000 books featuring black girl protagonists. Celebrate with a special story time by Palm Beach County Administrator Verdenia Baker and a performance by Orisirisi on Fri, Feb 14 at 10:30 am, sponsored by the Friends of the Palm Beach County

Library System. Preregistration is required. Eleven-year-old Marley Dias was frustrated by the lack of books about black girls in her school curriculum, so in November of 2015, she launched a campaign

to collect 1,000 books where black girls are the main characters and #1000blackgirlbooks was born.

Find our collection of #1000blackgirlbooks in the children’s area at the Main Library. The collection includes picture books, beginning readers, chapter books, biographies and young adult titles.
