Academic Overview – Elementary School

(Kindergarten through 4th Grade)

The Wellington Preparatory School teaches an accelerated curriculum for its college preparatory students. Children are taught at a grade level above and/or a modified gifted curriculum, with varied supplemental support programs. 

The Wellington Preparatory School is a coeducational, non-sectarian private school with a mission to deliver a top academic education, while providing supportive co-curricular activities. 

Jeffrey Altschuler founded The Wellington Preparatory School after a successful career growing Meritas Schools. Meritas is a premium kindergarten through 12th grade family of college preparatory schools around the world. Mr. Altschuler was a founder of the Meritas school system and president of the US schools division. Prior to founding Meritas, he was a partial owner of the North Broward Preparatory School, a high quality preparatory school located on a 70 acre campus just south of Boca Raton, Florida. Mr. Altschuler earned a Masters in Business degree from the University of Chicago, a second Masters degree from the University of Illinois and a Bachelors degree from Carnegie Mellon University. He brings his knowledge in managing college preparatory schools to the development and growth of Wellington Prep.
Sandy Montoya, Principal
Ms. Montoya has extensive experience in the education industry. She worked in the public school system and charter school system for many years. She is also the director of Wellington Prep’s sister school, Planet Kids at Wellington. Ms. Montoya holds a bachelor’s degree from Florida International University in Educational Management.
