The Florida Recreation and Park Association (FRPA) selected the Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation Department as the recipient of the 2016 Agency Excellence Award in the Super Category. The award recognizes and honors the state's most outstanding community park, recreation or leisure service agencies for excellence in park and recreation management. The Agency Excellence Award program focuses on agencies excelling at positioning themselves as key participants and providers in the categories of economic impact, environmental sustainability, health, and community building. Recipients of the award in the Super Category have demonstrated that their programming and facilities support their involvement and concentration in all four categories. The award was presented at FRPA's annual conference in Orlando on Wednesday, August 31.
“I’m so proud of the entire Parks and Recreation Team that works tirelessly to provide wonderful opportunities for the residents and visitors to Palm Beach County," said Parks and Recreation Director Eric Call. “To be recognized by our peers from around the State is very special and gratifying.”
The department was also awarded FRPA's Public Relations Award for the creation of a public service announcement that promotes Palm Beach County's parks as ideal places to partake in physical exercise and enjoy the tranquility of nature for the purpose of positively impacting one’s own mental wellbeing. The 60-second animated video was created completely in-house in English, Spanish, and Creole.
