We Made It... Week 1

August 20, 2016

Hope you had a successful first week of school!  It's all about routine and may take a little bit to find your groove.

This year my goal is to minimize rushing which we did LOTS last year. It's definitely all about preparing, the weekend before... the night before.

Here are some things I "plan" on doing this year to help make the year go a little smoother.
- Lay out the week's clothes on Sunday so the morning is not a fight. Have the kids help make the choices, even down to the socks.
- Pack up as much of the lunch as possible the night before so all you need to do in the morning is make that sandwich, etc.  For those who buy lunch at school check your child's balance on Sunday to make sure they have enough for lunch that week. Did you know you can request on the website if you only want them to have dessert certain days... I will definitely need to do this with my son. :)

- Find out how early you can drop your child off... schools provide free breakfast, ok not necessarily the most healthy but if you talk to them try to encourage the healthier options, hopefully they'll make them. Most schools open a half an hour earlier that when the bell rings. Best of all the car drop off line is much shorter the earlier you drop off.
- Make a designated area in the home for all the incoming papers from school (and we know we get lots!) and even separate by what things need to be returned to the school so you're not scrambling to find it that morning.
Here are a couple of FREE Apps that may be helpful to download:
-Download the free Google Calendar to your phone to help keep the important dates with you (and not just on the calendar at home).
-Documents to Go - to help keep important documents with you on your phone.

The theme for this school year for me, is to be organized and prepared. Cut out whatever is stressing you, and for me it was the rushing around.  Wishing your students a fabulous 2016-2017 school year!
